Pros and cons of Risk Magazine app for iPhone and iPad

Risk Magazine app good for

Risk Magazine is unquestionably THE go-to publication for incisive analysis of risk, capital and derivatives issues. The App brings all that to the iPad in a timely and easily readable format.

The latest update has made the App much better usable, navigation is easier, and issues are much smaller. Well done!

This is an excellent trade periodicals first cut at an iPad app, but it has some wrinkles that could be enhanced. I already have a print and online subscription and the app is currently free to me. While the app is nice I wont be canceling my existing print subscription, as I like the ability to clip or send links or even print articles. In this app you can bookmark, which is nice, but not the same as being able to forward a link. To share a link I could always find the article in this magazine app, open my browser, find the same article online, then hit one of the share buttons. Also, every time I log in it advertises that I can subscribe if I hit the button on the left. I already subscribe, and fear that I accidentally order a second subscription. It would be nice for that button to go away when it knows I already subscribe. Search is reasonable but not sophisticated. It doesnt appear to support wild cards or compound logic e.g. "OIS and discount or valuation" brings up zero entries. There is some flashy stuff that happens to the headlines when you load an article. I dont care too much for that but no big deal.

Some bad moments

Unfortunately, the latest update made all my previously downloaded issues disappear. The memory for them was nevertheless blocked. Very disappointing. The home screen appears a lot less organized, now that issues are shown with large picture in a single line.

Unable to open Risk in Newstand for months. No problem with Asia Risk. Hopefully a fix is on the way.
